Instrumental Band SUKARMA is performing live at Panauti Dabali on 2nd Feb. 2010 (19 Magh 2066 B.S). This program is being organized by Panauti JamGhat Boys on the occassion of Makar Mela. Photo Exhibition

“Makar Mela-066” a photo exhibition on the art, culture and history of Panauti is all set to begin on the occasion of the holy ‘Makar Mela’, Friday.

The exhibition by Prasant Shrestha which will remain open throughout the Makar festival showcases ‘Panauti’ as an epicenter of cultural heritage that dates back to ancient times.

According to its organizers P3RAM Group a proposal had been sent out to UNESCO requesting them to include Panauti into its list of World Heritage Sites. “It is unfortunate that Panauti is not so popular despite its short distance from the Kathmandu valley,” said its organizers.

The photo exhibition, which will be inaugurated in the presence of a French Archelogist/Photographer, Gerard Toffin, will remain open to public till 14th February 2010.

Free Health Camp during Makar Mela

हिजोबाट सुरु भएको १२ वर्षो मकर मेलामा आउने भक्तजनको स्वास्थ्यलाई ख्याल गदैँ विभिन्न स्वास्थ्य संघसंस्थाहरुले निःशुल्क स्वास्थ्य शिविर सुरु गरेका छन् । सोही क्रममा पनौतीस्थित पनौती सामुदायिक अस्पतालले पनि आजदेखि निःशुल्क स्वास्थ्य शिविर सुरु गरेको छ ।

पनौतीमा हिजोबाट सुरु भएको मकर मेलामा आउने तिर्थालु भक्तजनको स्वास्थ्यलाई ख्याल गदैँ जिल्ला जनस्वास्थ्य केन्द्र काभ्रे, अल्का अस्पताल जाउलाखेल नेपाल रेडक्रस सोसाइटी काभ्रे शाखा, सुन्थान प्राथमिक उपचार केन्द्र सुन्थान लगायतका दजनौँ स्वास्थ्य सेवासँग सम्बन्धित संघ संस्थाले एक महिनासम्म निःशुल्क स्वास्थ्य शिविरको सञ्चालन गरेका छन् ।

त्यसैगरी मेला भर्न आउने भक्तजनका लागि अखिल नेपाल राष्ट्रिय स्वतन्त्र मजदुर संगठन बनेपा इकाइ र पनौती नगरपालिका तथा अन्य विभिन्न अस्पतालहरुले २४ घण्टा नै एम्बुलेन्स खडा गरेका छन् ।

Tree Plantation Programme

On the occasion of Makar Mela B.S. 2066 (AD 2009), Nepal Heritage Society with collaboration with Panuati Tourism Development Committee and Panuati Forest Users Committee organized a tree plantation programme on 15th August 2009, Saturday at Gorakhnath Forest, Triveni Ghat, Panuati, Kavre District. Alliance for Responsible Tourism – Nepal and Dream Nepal Alliance members, executive Memberas of Nepal Heritage Society – Nepal, Women Group of Panuati, Nepal Environment & Tourism Initiative Foundation (NETIF) also participated in the tree plantation programme.

The plantation programme was organized to create awareness amongst the locals to protect the environment around Panauti (culturally preserved area). There’s a plan for planting hundred thousand trees around Panuati area this year on the occasion of Makar Mela 2066 (2009).
